What is Gestalt therapy?

Gestalt therapy is a form of psychotherapy focused on awareness of the “here and now” and the full experience of one’s feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Its goals include developing personal responsibility, integrating various aspects of one’s personality, and better understanding one’s needs.

In Gestalt therapy, a strong emphasis is placed on connecting with the environment and interpersonal relationships, and the therapist supports the client in discovering their own behavioral patterns and experimenting with new ways of acting.

A key principle is present awareness, meaning focusing on what is happening in the present moment rather than analyzing the past or projecting into the future.
